GLB: Tell us about yourself!
WG: I am a New Yorker; I grew up in South Jamaica, Queens. I’ve been loving music all my life. Since I was four, I knew that was something I wanted to do. I’m a little eccentric, as all my friends will tell you. I’m on the path that I’ve chosen since I was really little, I’m just a musician. And I’m also a fun person. I like books!
GLB: Who inspires you?
WG: I just take a lot from the world. When I was younger, I got a lot of inspiration from Disney movies. Now, it’s a lot of books. I was reading a book called “Running with Scissors” by Augusten Burroughs and it kind of reminded me, I mean not as crude as the story, but it reminds me of my childhood. I draw inspiration from Sci-Fi movies and cool fantasy movies. And history, of course.
GLB: What do you usually do before a show to warm-up and right afterwards to cool down?
WG: I get some tea and I try to do my vocal warm-ups when I can. Or I go silent for a day or two. It’s very hard. Everyone wants to talk to you and everyone thinks I’m deaf when I do that.
GLB: Where’s your favorite place that you’ve performed so far?
WG: I would have to say New York at Santos Party House. It was my first headline show by myself for my new material that I released by myself.
Just chilling with Wynter Gordon. No big deal.
GLB: What would you say has been the craziest moment you’ve experienced since becoming a celebrity?
WG: I run into people on the subway all the time and they ask me for pictures on the train; it’s still weird because I don’t expect it at all. Also, people telling me they’re in love with me. I’ve gotten some really weird and scary fan mail, like on some Selena fan club type status. I didn’t know what to do.
GLB: What would you say is next for Wynter Gordon?
WG: I’m going on tour in Australia and then I’m going to continue recording for my next project, The Human Condition, just finishing that. And recording new material. I never stop doing music. And there’s other things that I’m involved with, like teaching music in Haiti and I plan on putting my hands in a lot of things that help out other people.

Fun Questions!
When you’re not on the road or in the studio, what do you like to do for fun?
I don’t know when I’m not working, I usually don’t have those moments but I go to the movies. I hang out with my nephew, he’s two. I babysit! I’m working a lot, I get my experiences when I’m on the road working.
What is your television guilty pleasure?
I watch The Tudors and I watched the whole series, all of it, in three days and Modern Family. It’s really good. I think I just related to messed up families. I just love things like that; it makes me feel quite at home.
If you could meet anyone from the past, present, or future, real or fake, who would it be and why?
Edward Scissorhands. He seems like a good friend or a best friend!
Wynter Gordon and Me. Woot!
