Bienvenidos from España, party people! Since I’ve been in Spain for over two weeks now, I’m pretty sure I’m an expert in just about everything (Yeah, right lol). After a couple of days of introductory courses and placement exams, I went on my program’s five day/four night orientation trip to a region called Andalucía, which is located in the south of Spain. For the first two days I was in Sevilla, which was my favorite city of the excursion because of the beautiful weather we had but also because of the buildings there.
Don’t you feel like you’re in a fairy tale?
You can actually feel the history. Just don’t let anyone see you do it though, or you’ll get in trouble.
What a sight. Oh yeah, and the background’s pretty nice too.
My next stop was Granada, where I climbed a mountain with freezing winds but once at the top the view was terrifying and beautiful. (The wind was so strong we huddled together like penguins for heat and so that we wouldn’t fly away). But once at the top, we did see some pretty awesome fossils of prehistoric fauna that used to live in the mountains.
Prehistoric giant worm. *Shudders*
Remember that one song by Superchick from the Cadet Kelly movie on Disney Channel called “One Girl Revolution?” Or that song “Super Girl” by Krystal Harris from The Princess Diaries opening? Were those too oddly specific? Well, I felt like if my life was scored like a movie, one of those songs would have played in the background.
Yup, I’m Supergirl.
My trip also consisted of a flamenco performance that was pretty darn cool lol. The video below is just a snippet of the performance that was part of a dinner and a show spectacle that I attended.
¡Olé!
The final destination was Cordoba which had beautiful museums and a mosque that had a church within it, which was in walking distance of a temple. Super confusing religious stuff lol.
It was also where I began to feel ill which brings me back to Madrid and in bed with a stomach virus. No bueno. *Sigh* Tis the life of a world traveler.
I took loads more pictures that can be seen on the GLB Instagram and Tumblr pages. Stay tuned for more of my adventures!
XOXO,
Jessica
